ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMS

Academic Achievement Programs (AAP) is a student services department, which promotes academic excellence among students of the University of California at Berkeley. AAP is working with students, faculty and professional staff to provide comprehensive academic and academic support services. AAP students represent a diverse group of experts and leaders. Our office serves students from low-income families, students whose parents did not graduate from college, and / or students from underrepresented groups.

One of the primary objectives AAP is to provide academic support services to prepare students to go beyond their bachelor's degree and continue to get advanced degrees. AAP services include research grants to faculty and courses for credit in coordination with academic departments. AAP provide counseling, mentoring, tutoring and academic workshops and seminars, which are essential components for student success. AAP also sponsors a national research symposium, in which selected scholars present their research. The scholars publish their work in a research journal sponsored by the AAP. These activities give students the opportunity to participate in the Berkeley tradition of excellence in research.

AAP operates within the Division of Undergraduate Education and is funded by grants, private donors and the support of the university.

 Student Support Services (SSS) Scholars Academy activities include academic advising, finacial literacy, prep school graduate or professional courses for academic credit, writing and learning skills workshops and personal counseling. This program helps low-income and first generation students. In SSS, a smaller group of freshmen and sophomores, received a small amount of Pell Grant funds to offset their student loans.

McNair Scholars Program

 Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program prepares selected students from Berkeley for graduate studies at the doctoral level. Each year, 20-30 McNair scholars have the opportunity to develop a close relationship with your faculty mentor to publish their research in the Berkeley McNair Journal, to present their research results at a national symposium, and for assistance to ensure admission to graduate programs. Scholars participate in two academic years and summer activities and receive a stipend for their summer research.

Miller Scholarship Program

 The George A. Miller Scholars Program is designed to provide first ten low-income generation and the community college students transfer to a two-year fellowship and a research / community service stipend. Scholars are selected based on several criteria, including demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential and commitment to community service. During the academic year, George A. Miller, recipients receive training and support to design a summer project faculty-mentor of the participation either original or community service project.

Undergraduate Program

The highly competitive two-year Haas Undergraduate Program accepts applications for transfer applicants and then UC Berkeley. The program's goal is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary for understanding the modern business world, to prepare for post-graduate studies, and achieve the highest levels of success in their careers. Students earn a bachelor of science which has a general management perspective. Course is fully integrated with the curriculum of liberal arts at the University, allowing students to obtain a broad perspective on business management and environment. Students are challenged to develop creative and innovative solutions to current business problems and to develop leadership skills and a sense of service to the community through classroom experiences and extracurricular activities

Students preparing for admission to the Undergraduate Program can complete the required lower division courses in any college or university equivalent courses at other institutions. Because there are more applicants than seats available, meeting the prerequisites does not guarantee admission.

Beyond these required core courses and other courses outside the Haas School needed to meet degree requirements, business students must take additional classes in the disciplines of business after 11: the politics of accounting, business and the public The corporate social responsibility, economic and political analysis, entrepreneurship, finance, organizational management, marketing, nonprofit management, operations and management of information technology and real estate.
